Following her 2021 virtual debut as part of WNMU’s Women in Music: Global Voices series (necessitated by the pandemic) Farah Siraj now makes her first live in-person appearance on our campus, bringing with her an enchanting music.
A musical prodigy from Amman, Jordan, Farah began her training at the age of three years old, later earning diplomas from Trinity College London and Berklee College of Music. Recognized as “Jordan’s Musical Ambassadress,” she has performed at prestigious venues such as the United Nations, Nobel Prize Hall, Kennedy Center, and Lincoln Center.
Her distinctive sound merges Middle Eastern, flamenco, jazz, bossa nova, and pop influences. Backed by a multicultural ensemble, she sings fluently in Arabic, English, and Spanish. Her album Dunya was praised by Rolling Stone for its “vivacious Arabian flamenco jazz,” while Time Out NY called her “the Norah Jones of the Middle East”.
Beyond her musical talents, Farah is a dedicated humanitarian. She has advocated for women’s and refugee rights, animal welfare, and peace initiatives, performing at the United Nations Humanitarian Awards.
Come and celebrate the music of Farah Siraj this October 9!
